Is there anything i could do that could get me sponsored for skateboard which i love doing ? and the free gear & trips around the world i would help me with my passion for skateboarding?
hey i was wondering if i can ask you something. A few days ago a company called Mountain Junkies wants to sponsor me and they didnt see any videos or pictures of me but there mailing free gear to my house to get me started and then they said there going to get bigger with it later on. do you think this is a legit deal or should i not trust this company??
Thomas,
As I talk about in the course, the number one asset you have is your image/brand.
Just because someone wants to sponsor you doesn’t mean you should have them as a sponsor. There are many reasons for that. A company may have a different image in the marketplace than what works for you. If it isn’t a good fit. It doesn’t help either of you.
One other reason to not go with a sponsor is if they aren’t a strong company and they may not be around in a year or two. You want sponsors who will be with you for years and years. That enables you to create a strong consistent image. Jumping sponsors creates confusion and lowers your value.
Thanks so should i back down and just play this a little longer or look up on the company and see how good they are?
